Job Purpose:
Direct all facets of this digital collection of instructional materials about children’s and young adult books by…
• Managing and growing the collection of digital resources
• Striving to provide each reader resources for the books they are reading
• Mentoring and supervising staff
• Engaging in company-wide leadership and planning

Qualifications:
• Experience in and passion for the field of children’s and young adult books
• MLS or equivalent experience with Collection Development policies and managing classification processes
• Experience in the field of education and/or public libraries with a dedication to improving K–12 education
• Experience with online technologies
• Supervisory and/or mentorship experience
• Experience in leadership
• Positive, organized person
• Passionate advocate
• Commitment to serving a diverse society

Reports to:
Founder & Executive Director

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Direct all components of the TeachingBooks.net online collection, including materials associated with every book title, author, series, award, and booklist
• Be accountable for the integrity and growth of the online collection
• Train and supervise staff of the Content Department
• Manage the Collection Development Policy and Classification Manual
• Communicate with customers and business contacts to maintain partnerships
• Maintain the office’s physical library of books and periodicals
• Contribute as an active member of the Leadership Team

Necessary Skills:
• Manage and successfully maintain accurate data
• Exercise strong organizational and technical skills, with attention to detail
• Demonstrate competence with databases, Microsoft’s Office Suite, and Google Apps
• Provide excellent customer service
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
• Take initiative, working independently and in collaboration with others
• Be articulate and excited about the TeachingBooks mission

Terms of Employment:
Position is full-time with competitive salary and benefits, including health insurance.

Location:
This position works out of the TeachingBooks.net office, located on the west side of Madison, Wisconsin, near the University Hospitals.
