Job Summary/Basic Function
The Carl B. Ylvisaker Library at Concordia College seeks an innovative librarian interested in collaboration with faculty and students in education and other academic departments to begin August 2017. The Carl B. Ylvisaker Library is a teaching library closely engaged with campus curricula and programs. The Curriculum Center Librarian will provide leadership for the Curriculum Center and as part of a team of librarians provides teaching and reference services, contributes to campus initiatives in integrative learning and digital scholarship, and builds print and digital collections to serve the teaching and research needs of undergraduate students. The successful candidate for this position will join a college community committed to integrative learning and responsible engagement in the world as well as a vibrant regional education community that includes five higher education institutions and four area school districts.

-Advocates for information literacy learner outcomes and collaborates with faculty to build sequenced information literacy programs within liaison departments.
-Leads information literacy sessions in first year inquiry seminars and upper level classes in liaison departments.
-Presents workshops for students and college faculty/staff.
-Applies knowledge of emerging trends, including in technology in K-12 education, teaching pedagogy, state and national standards, K-12 textbook publishing and adoptions, and children’s & young adult literature.
-Develops and maintains the Curriculum Center collections relevant to current pedagogy of area school districts.
-Collaborates with faculty in liaison areas on collection development and participates in general library collection development.
-Leads operations of the Curriculum Center including its staff, collections, policies, and procedures.
-Provides reference and consultation services to faculty, staff, students, and others.
-Collaborates with community partners, both on and off campus, to promote lifelong learning and literacy.

Minimum Qualifications
-Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited graduate program in library and information studies, or its international equivalent.
-Knowledge of children’s and young adult literature, both fiction and non-fiction.
-High degree of computer literacy and experience with information technologies in K-12 and higher education.
-Demonstrated commitment to quality service.
-Ability to work with a diverse community.
-Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and presentation skills.
-Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience in libraries (school, public, or academic).
-Experience in elementary or secondary school libraries or classroom teaching.
-Experience in providing library reference/research assistance.
-Experience with supervising staff.
