Building Substitute and Library Assistant
Northeast College Prep – Minneapolis, MN 55418
$32,000 – $36,000 a year

Building Substitute and Librarian

Position Overview:
For this position, we are seeking outstanding candidates who are interested in substitute teaching at our Kindergarten – 6th grade school. In the beginning of the year, the building substitute will observe each classroom teacher. Then, they will have a chance to substitute teach with the classroom teacher in the room (and the classroom teacher will support and give feedback). When a teacher is out sick, the building sub will step in to provide a successful day of learning. If there are no teachers out, the building substitute will work in the school library barcoding all of the books and re-shelving returned books. This position is a full-time position with benefits. Because the building substitute will be on campus everyday, they will be able to learn the school culture. The following year, they will be able to apply for a classroom teaching position. This position will set up a beginning teacher for success at Northeast College Prep.

About our school:
Northeast College Prep (NECP) is a public charter school with grades K-6 in 2017-2018. NECP is finishing its third successful year. Northeast College Prep is a Kindergarten – 5th grade school currently, and will grow each year by one grade until we become a Pre-Kindergarten – 8th grade school.

We offer a rigorous international curriculum to all students (International Baccalaureate candidate school), all students take both Spanish and Arabic and we intentionally teach social-emotional skills. Additionally, students have Art and Physical Education classes.

Currently, we have 265 students who speak 11 different primary languages at home. We are most proud of the calm school culture that we have created and the success students have found, even when they hadn’t found success in previous schools. We intentionally teach social-emotional learning lessons and connect students to opportunities in the community to develop their unique talents.

NECP exists to ensure that all children have access to an education that will help them to maximize their options in life, thereby contributing to a more just society.
