Branch Librarian II, Aitkin Library, 40 hours per week:
East Central Regional Library (ECRL) has a vacancy for the position of Branch Librarian II to oversee the operation of a medium-large branch library in Aitkin, MN. This position is for 40 hours per week. ECRL is a consolidated regional library system with 14 branches. A Bachelor’s Degree, up to date technology skills and three years related experience is required. MLS/MLIS or similar library certification or advanced library training is preferred. Candidates must have demonstrated creativity and vision to provide modern public library service; ability and willingness to work independently; above average communication skills; excellent customer service skills; and the ability and willingness to lead a library team of staff and volunteers. The Aitkin Public Library is located in Aitkin, MN (Aitkin County) about 120 miles north of Minneapolis on Hwy. 169. The branch is open 48 hours per week, Monday-Saturday. The Branch Librarian is employed for 40 hours per week and supervises three Branch Assistants. Branch service statistics for 2016 recorded an average of 2,800 visitors and 3,000 checkouts per month. Aitkin Library has excellent community support with an active Friends group and volunteers.
