Lindsey McDivitt writes fiction and non-fiction for children. Her picture books Nature’s Friend: The Gwen Frostic Story (2018) and Truth and Honor: The President Ford Story (July 2020) were published by Sleeping Bear Press. A Plan for the People: Nelson Mandela’s Hope for his Nation will be published in 2021. Lindsey is passionate about tackling ageism in books for children. Presentation Title and Description: 

     Lindsey’s picture book biographies lend themselves to interactive presentations with children ages 6-12, both live and virtual visits. Presentations are tailored to the audience and the subject matter of each title. Possible themes include: introducing President Ford, researching and writing narrative non-fiction, nature and the environment (Earth Day), persistence, overcoming disability, strong role models for girls, older role models and what do we really know about growing older? (100th day of school).

     Lindsey also enjoys speaking to adult groups on writing narrative non-fiction, and “Nipping Ageism in the Bud: Older Role Models in Picture Books.”
