Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time, one-year position of Academic Librarian at the Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor rank in the Folke Bernadotte Memorial Library to begin September 1, 2018 and ending May 31, 2019. This is a one-year sabbatical replacement position.

Major/Essential Functions: Primary teaching responsibilities will include participating in a supportive, collegial management structure to provide quality instruction to undergraduates. Teaching in the library occurs in the form of reference, instruction, and collection development. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to undertake additional projects related to teaching and learning in the library.

Prerequisites

Required Qualifications: We seek candidates who have an ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS. The successful candidate will have demonstrated interest or experience working in an academic library, including reference, instruction, and collection development. Candidates will also have knowledge of trends affecting academic libraries. As we are a teaching library, candidates must have demonstrated interest in instruction, especially for undergraduates. Recent MLS graduates are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications: The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate. A second master’s degree is not required for the position, but will be required for the Visiting Assistant Professor rank.
