The Cannon Falls Library is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and creative Library Assistant to perform a broad range of library services for the general public, specializing in developing programs for adults and teens. Activities include: conducting programs for teens and adults and creating promotional items to announce them; assisting the public with the use of modern technology; assisting the Director with community outreach; and contributing to the greater good of the library by supporting broader goals.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to cheerfully and tactfully deal with a wide variety of people; ability to plan, schedule and organize workload; ability to design and implement fun, educational programs; ability to work independently and collaboratively; knowledge of library materials and classification systems; ability to perform clerical work such as using word processing, photocopying, emailing, and Internet tools.
Minimum requirements: High School diploma or GED. Availability to work some week nights and Saturdays.
Desirable qualifications: Experience working in a library and/or strong experience in program and event planning.
Starting Salary: $18.58/hr, minimum 32 hours per week including some weekends and evenings. The position offers health/dental benefits and PTO.
